Boruto is the continuation ( spin-off ) of the famous anime ” Naruto” which focuses on the son of Naruto as its main protagonist. There are many people who hate Bortuo just because of the mere fact that they can’t stop comparing them to Naruto, and just enjoy the anime for the hell of it. This has often lead to countless debates between the fans of both the anime shows that often doesn’t end well as many of the diehard fans of Naruto just can’t stop ranting about how bad Boruto is. So we here at cinephilespeaks decided to look at the matter and tell you what we think about the subject matter. So without further ado, let’s get right to answering ” Is Boruto Good?”
Yes And No, we know, we know that is not a fair answer. But the question prompts such an answer as most of the people asking this question are subconsciously comparing Boruto to Naruto and the high bar that they have set of expectations out of it. Moreover, Boruto is not yet complete and it does something new to offer to the “Ninja World”. We will be looking at the reviews for this anime series up to now to better answer this question
- Crunchyroll: Boruto got an average of 3.6 stars from Cruchyroll from a voting of 1400 votes
- MyAnimeList: Boruto got a rating of an average of 3 stars from near 184,000 votes
- IMDB: IMDB rates Boruto as a 7/10 from a total votes of 6270 votes
Folowing are some of the good as well as bad reviews to help you get the point of view of both sides
“love this show – does it have its flaws? Obviously. Every show does. What I’ve come to realize is that people who hate this anime hate it because they compare the level of action / seriousness of the Fourth Great Ninja war with the beginning of boruto. They’re not even comparable. Boruto will get to that point of action and sacrifice and darkness but it’s just not there yet and that’s fine. Even if you compare the first 100 episodes of Naruto with the 4th Great Ninja War they seem boring and actionless. Obviously. It’s the beginning of the show. The focus of those episodes is to introduce characters and story lines.
I just think if you based your review of Boruto on the first 50 episodes and your only real complaint is that it’s not as action filled and serious as Naruto was, you’re not giving Boruto a fair chance. Not even Naruto was that serious pre-shippuden. At least give the show a chance to grow and get to that point before writing it off as “shi*tty and childish” after 5 episodes. May I remind you all that Naruto was even dumber than Boruto at his age.“
“IF you are talking about the anime itself, then i will be pleased to tell you that in is NOT. This is only my personal opinion but I feel like Boruto did not fulfil the expectations of those who watched Naruto. Well I cannot blame anyone, because when Naruto was airing it was a fresh, new underdog story that most people could relate to at one point or another, and I admit it would hard to create a new anime that could fill up such big shoe that Naruto created but Boruto seemed like the story of a spoilt brat who dispises his father for becoming what he had always dreamt of becoming. Another thing that makes most people dislike about Boruto is the fact that they made the old Naruto characters underpowerd and weak, these are the characters that most of us grew up watching them deal with their hardships and becomig better shinobi, and then suddenly they are weak, it just doesn’t add up”
“Both for fans of the original Naruto show, and those looking for a place to start with the franchise Boruto offers a consistently excellent option. By making the struggle of legacy a central theme the show manages to thrive with Naruto’s looming shadow, made rather literal in the first title sequence. By resetting the power scale, the world and the village are only in mild peril, with much of the conflict being returned to the characters. The action sequences are dynamic, well animated and varied, each of the characters fights in unique ways that can be appreciated on their own but add even more insight for those familiar with Naruto and Shippuden. An all-around solid and highly enjoyable action show.”
The anime is only running due to Old Naruto and Sasuke fans. But due to awful stories and episodes I think we need to let go the franchise and remember the memories of the Naruto series. This series is just a bunch fillers and fillers, lowest quality of arcs which are only stretched illogically. I hope they keep their focus on Boruto and its story, rather than telling stories about all the 20+ useless characters. Otherwise there is no future of Boruto.
The answer is subjective but we do think that it does have something new to offer to the “Ninja World” and though it can’t be rated
“Boruto has great animation and the show is just starting off but it’s going in a great direction and the way it starts off will have you glued to the tv! Expecting for Boruto but be very different form Naruto is ridiculous. Dragon ball is the same for several year and super is the worst one but people don’t seem to be bothered and for the people that say boruto is a brat and that’s why they give the show a bad rating that’s what makes it a good show because it’s making you feel and get involved with the characters! The show is great for long time fans and great for newcomers! The people giving the show bad ratings are just terrible fans or people who don’t like change.”
Which Boruto Episodes Are Fillers?
So to conclude, all in all Boruto is a good anime if you can see if one can set aside the bias that is created due to being a diehard fan of Naruto. Moreover as we said above, Boruto is still not complete, has quite a few new characters and mysteries and we would only know for sure when the anime actually concludes. And we as every Naruto fan out there hope that it is worth the ride
