Game Of Thrones Books

Game of Thrones is without a doubt a phenomenal series that has proven its grit not only in the novel-verse but also in Hollywood. It was even good enough to form a hit television show which left many of the viewers in awe. Though the ending of Game of Thrones is debatable, all in all, it is without a doubt a gem. So, today we decided to take a look into Game of thrones books and write an elaborate article on them. So without further ado, let’s get right into it

Starting of, Game Of Thrones has a total of 5 books as of now but there are two more books planned and on the way that is yet to be published, as there are to be a total of 7 Game Of Thrones books

  • A Game of Thrones (1996)
  • A Clash of Kings (1998)
  • A Storm of Swords (2000)
  • A Feast for Crows (2005)
  • A Dance with Dragons (2011)
  • The Winds of Winter (forthcoming)
  • A Dream of Spring (forthcoming)

The total number of volumes planned is seven just like we discussed above. However, five of the seven volumes have been published until now. The most recent one is “A Dance with Dragons”, It was published in 2011 and is the fifth volume of this books and it took Martin six years to write this novel. He is currently writing the sixth novel which is planned to be released somewhere in 2021, The Winds of Winter. Furthermore, the seventh novel is also planned “A Dream of Spring”.

Are The Game Of Thrones Books Finished ?

No, the game of thrones books is not finished yet. There are still two books remaining “The winds of winter” and “A dream of spring”. Because of the lock-down George martin is currently isolating himself in an actual cabin in the mountains and he hopes to finish his long-awaited fantasy novel The Winds of Winter by the end of next year.

Martin said he was spending a long time every day working on the sixth book. this bestselling fantasy series was adapted by HBO into the television series Game of Thrones. Although the television storyline concluded a year ago, fans have been waiting for “The Winds of Winter”, the penultimate book in the series before A Dream of Spring. Fans were not much satisfied with the end of Game Of Thrones as it was quashed by both critiques and the fans. The books are expected to have a better ending than the series.

Does Daenerys Die In The Books?

No, she is not dead in the books yet as a matter of fact. The book series is incomplete like we discussed. Dany’s last chapter in the latest book ends with her being found by the Dothraki Khal Jhaqo. However, it’s not the same way she is found in the series, these circumstances are rather different from the series.

It’s Crystal clear since the start of the novel that she will die. The title of the book is : “A Song of Ice and Fire”. Ice refers to the “white walkers”. So Ice will disappear. Whereas Fire is the Corival force. An antagonist force has no reason to live without her antagonist. So Fire will disappear too. So Dany will die as a result. Possibly she will be killed by the Night King and not by Jon Snow as was seen in the television show, but that is all up to J.K. Rowling as of now.

The Author Of The Game Of Thrones Books

George R. R. Martin is the author of the game of thrones books. he is an American novelist and short-story writer, screenwriter, and television producer.

Martin began selling science fiction short stories professionally in 1970, at age 21. His first sale was “The Hero”, sold to Galaxy magazine and published in its February 1971 issue; other sales soon followed. His first story to be nominated for the Hugo Award and Nebula Awards was “With Morning Comes Mistfall”, published in 1973 in Analog magazine.

His first novel, Dying of the Light, was completed in 1976 right before he moved to Dubuque, and published in 1977. That same year the enormous success of Star Wars had a huge impact on the publishing industry and science fiction, and he sold the novel for the same amount he would make in three years of teaching.

Game of Thrones Books Vs Game Of Thrones Show

Now, this is a hard debate to have. Many fans say that the books were much better than the show however, Some may believe that the first few seasons of the show were better than the books. There is quite a unison when we see opinions about the last seasons as most of the fans agree that they were quite bad especially the last one.

Many people don’t have the time or inclination to read five books that are about 1000 pages each. And the series is still short two books.

The same people will sit and watch a television show for an hour a week. And because of the quality of the show they will watch every week. Some who are just starting to watch it can watch it with a friend or spouse. You can’t share reading a book.

Sure, the book has much more detail and more characters, many who have little to do with moving the story forward. The show kept the characters that were important to the story and left some out. I have heard of Lady Stoneheart who is the corpse of Catelyn Stark. I’m not sure I would have even believed that had it happened in the show.

The show was great because of great casting, acting and production. Everyone gave it their all. And if you haven’t read the books first, you will enjoy the entire series of Game of Thrones. You will be sad to see it end.

Rating Of Game Of Thrones Books

The overall rating given to books of gasme of thrones is 4.5 satrs out of 5. In George R. R. Martin’s magnificent cycle of novels that includes A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords. As a whole, this series comprises a genuine masterpiece of modern fantasy, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. Magic, mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill these pages and transport us to a world unlike any we have ever experienced. Already hailed as a classic, George R. R. Martin’s stunning series is destined to stand as one of the great achievements of imaginative fiction.

Fun Fact:

When Emilia Clarke First Met Her On-Screen Husband Jason Momoa Or Otherwise Known As Khal Drogo, Jason Screamed “WIFEY!”, Ran Across The Hall, And Rugby-Tackled (Hugged) Her. And Yes This Was Before He Introduced Himself.

Does The Show Follow The Books Exactly?

Season 1 easily follows the book closest. But even season 1 has its problems- sex scenes take up about 40% of the screen time. Ages of characters are upped so sex scenes can be physically depicted and even made non-consensual. Compare Dany’s relationship with Drogo in the book and season 1. I literally have no idea why they threw a rape scene in there. Emilia Clarke has even famously revealed that she was pressurised to perform nude so as “not to disappoint her fans”, so much so she actually had to have a new clause inserted into her contract so they couldn’t do that to her.

The show goes off the deep end after season 4. There were Hollywood cliché moments in the previous seasons to be sure- Robb Stark falls in love with an exotic beauty and marrying her for love instead of restoring someone’s honour, for example. The writers made the choice to change the consensual sex scene between Jamie and Cersei in season 4 to you guessed it- another rape scene. Other than that the first 4 seasons following pretty similar plot lines to the books with one or two things taken out. Season 5 basically goes off on its own-season 6 is one long guess as to what will happen in the next book, season 7 is fan fiction, season 8 is the hasty lazy ending of said fan fiction because the writers wanted to move onto other things.

Are The Game Of Thrones’ Books Hard To Read?

People think the part where the books may come off as being hard to read is regarding the themes, inner meaning, and foreshadowing. It is relatively easy to understand the story at face value. And most people find that story entrancing and exciting. But how many levels beneath the outermost layer can you easily understand is another issue. To understand the deeper meanings, e.g. symbolism of different food (Martin loves describing the food in great detail), what other people are doing in the background, etc. you need to put a lot of thought and try piercing things together.

But of course, these things are not necessary and you could enjoy the books just fine by reading what is plainly written. Most people do this too until they become so addicted to the story and begin digging out hidden details upon rereads.
